Formed in 1985 by the legendary band leader Dennis Goodison, the Orchestra began life as a junior Dance Band, rehearsing at the old Langsett Music Centre. It quickly took on a life of its own, providing the soundtrack to many a tea dance across the region.

As the musicians have grown up (nearly all were youth members), so has the band’s musical taste and we now have over 200 tunes in our library!

Musically, we take pride in keeping the old-school dance-band repertoire alive (foxtrots, quick-steps, Glen Miller), but have added a considerable number of big-band arrangements of more modern ‘dance’ tunes (Abba, Stevie Wonder, Wham, Barry Manilow…).
